Now this is a phrase that has been around for a while….but shouldn’t be underestimated or overlooked.
Until August 2016, it was always in the back of my mind and how I could achieve this?
More recently working in Project Management (Construction) I thought I didn’t have a choice/flexibility to work part-time.
So, I kept asking myself the questions how can I get more balance with what I do and my skill set…..I still need income to survive, but the biggest question is how much income do you need?
I reached a point….maybe turning 40 was the driver? I wanted more time with family and friends etc and to explore the ability to ‘work’ in a different way.
Time came to make a change….I lined up all the ducks, and then took the leap of faith to work part-time. What I call #breakingtheblueprint, being brave and offering 20+ years experience to my network and beyond!
It has been a breath of fresh air but of course not without its challenges….I generally have more energy, I have flexible working arrangements and time now to work on my blog, sharing stories, meeting and working with creative and inspiring human beings.
I am genuinely grateful for my life and how I have created it. Think about it, it might just be what you need.
Don’t let your ego give you all the reasons not to have a balance!
Went to see my good friend of mine little girl in her first Triathlon today, naturally she did a brilliant job and gave us plenty of entertainment!
“Mum can I do that again next year?”
The freedom and no care the kids had was brilliant…..classic ‘driving miss daisy’ style riding, kids on mountain bikes not realising their bike has gears ie. more than first gear ha ha….kids on BMX’s riding their guts out.
It was a great atmosphere, it was a good reminder…..life doesn’t need to be difficult, it needs to be kid like…..free, fun, no judgements, playtime…..just enjoy and laugh along!
Do something this week that you absolutely love, especially something you loved as a child.
Most importantly don’t worry about what anyone else thinks, just do it!
Highly recommended read…for both men and women! I wish I had this at 18…it will be on the gift list for my nieces and nephew that is for sure. I particularly resonated with words/phrases “straightforward, honest, true mutual understanding and alifetime of love.”
If your relationship is mutually understood, open and honest, then why couldn’t you have a lifetime of love?
I believe a relationship should be a partnership/teamwork, each of you should be following your dreams, leading the life your desire, supporting one another, open & honest communication, being great mates and sharing experiences, but never should either of you ‘own’ the other person. You should compliment one another!
I have a close friend of mine that is a great example of my personal theory, together since they were 16, have 2 children, still going strong. I have told them they are on the right path to my theory and continue doing/living the life they are….they will be together forever!

These are a great use of time when stuck in traffic! Can I recommend one in particular that I was recommended and resonated with, The Mindful Kind by Rachael Kable.
I loved how these Podscasts are Rachel’s real life experience, that she is sharing to improve the lives of others. Nice work Rach!
Following this Podcast was recommended by the lovely Kate James from Total Balance. I went to see Kate around the middle of last year for a half day ‘Discover Session’ to assist with the refinement of my project ‘Breaking the Blueprint’.
Kate’s work is brilliant all round, my favourite are her little books, namely ‘Be Mindful & Simplify Your Life’ (with the original cover ). They are a great reminder and good for gifts!

I love many of Mel’s posts on Instagram. But this one resonated….
“Commitment in a relationship means the commitment to the process of mutual understanding and forgiveness – no matter how many conversations it takes, nor how uncomfortable those conversations may be”. – Marianne Williamson (Return to Love).
Mel is one of my Yoga teachers at Humming Puppy, I know you shouldn’t have favourites but Mel is my fave ha ha!
I recommend everyone just try Yoga! I am fortunate to practice my yoga at Humming Puppy (Melbourne studio). With my love of design, in this instance interior architecture, I saw their fitout in a Broadsheet article. Then thought I might check this place out (it was in alignment with my style #5star ha ha)….and can I say it was one of the best decisions of my life!
They run 4 types of Yoga classes – with my favourite being Mellow Hum…..as they say it is a ‘super chilled restorative class’. This is brilliant if you have had a busy day, week or are simply stressed out!
Life is travelling so fast these days and stress unfortunately is regular in some peoples lives. This class makes you stop for 1 hour and simply chill out. It is important we look after ourselves….and you are responsible for your own actions, so be mindful of the decisions you make people! I finally convinced my Mum to try it as I knew it would benefit her….after her first ‘Mellow Hum’ class she slept right through the night!
